Memory and how to keep them intact
Memory is a collection of feelings that is stored in your brain. It is formed every second of time that we pass. As time fades only the ones significant enough will remain. If we look close enough isn't memory that defines who we are. But yet we tend to forget most of it.
To understand the concept of memory first we need to know how it is filtered and stored in our brain. Our brain always looks for a pattern in almost everything. And marks out the instances where the pattern breaks. This is why it is easier to remember unusual things than things that we do everyday. Our memory is formed in this same way. Things that you do usually might stay in your head for maybe a few hours at max. But if something different happens it stores it for a longer time. The length of time depends mainly on the intensity of our emotions. For example imagine you are an office worker and everyday you do the same thing as usual. The things you do everyday are stored in your unconscious part of the brain, this storage helps in doing things automatically. They do not require any external efforts from our side. We can compare it to singing a song, as you sing the next words automatically comes to our mouth, that is if you hear it usually. There is no extra effort given for doing this. Now as you enter the office imagine that your colleagues give you a surprise birthday party. Now this is something that is happening out of the pattern. Next what your brain looks for is how to categorize it and connects it to all the singular topics present in the instance. For example it connects birthday to cake. So if in the recent next time you think of cake this memory of birthday comes in. The brain looks for a lot of tags to give to the instant. It's not just the visuals or the audio that our brain stores it stores almost all senses it can. But as times passes only the stronger and more relevant parts stand out. The time of storage depends directly on the amount of emotions involved.
We might think that the things we forget are not in our brain. This is not true. Well the one thing our brain does not know is how to delete. Everything is always there. Then where does it all go? It's harder to remember these parts of memory because they are linked to an entirely different sets of categories. Later if your friend asks you what she gave you for her birthday you might not remember what it was. You might have hit your head twice to get what it was. But afterwords, when you're walking by and see a teddy bear, your brain suddenly clicks and remembers it. This is because your friends present is more connected to the term 'teddy bear' than 'birthday'.
You might remember this connectivity for a few days. Later which we usually loose it.
There is a way to increase this length of connectivity. But remember you have to get this process I am going to tell you to the 'everyday usuals' part of your brain.

For this you will need a blank book and a pen. Store both of these under your pillow. Every day as you wake up in the morning. You are going to write down in this book what it is that you dreamed about as you slept. Make sure you do this immediately as you wake-up. Dreams are the most sensitive memory in your brain. You tend to forget them as you move your body. So do this process with the least amount of movements possible. This is the same reason why I told you to keep the book under your pillow.
Most of you might have a doubt of what you will do if you didn't dream the previous night. Actually this is a wrong notion. We dream at least 5-6 times during our 8 hours of sleep. Though remembering all of these require a lot of practice and brain work it's much easier to remember the last few. At first you might not be able to remember all of your dreams but as time passes you will get good at it. Doing so try to remember these dreams in more and more detail. Doing this process over a course of time you will be able to increase the how much you remember. The more you are good at noting down your dreams the more you will remember everyday.
Dream are the most delicate part of our memory. It's easier to master remembering them. Doing so we can trick our brain into remember the most delicate matters that happen every day. It also tries bring back the connections that exist in your previous memories letting you remember more easily. As you repeat the process of dream recovery the process becomes part of your daily routine making it more easier and done without effort.
The above process has a lot of names. The most common one is dream journal. Try googling the term you might find more useful stuff from it.
Nice maaan
